Cats Galore

It was a cold wet morning when I arrived at the bus stop for my trip down to Petone the other day.  I was hoping that the rainbow in the sky promised that the weather would improve.  I noticed a young man with a large suitcase waiting to board the Airport Flyer bus.  “Do you think your flight will get away with all this volcanic dust around?” I asked him.  He didn’t seem too keen to talk to a grey haired lady like me and seemed rather moody.  Not so the elderly gentleman who chattered away at length and  told me all about going out to the shops and buying a new heater when his old one stopped going.  Perhaps I don’t seem quite so old to an elderly gentleman.

It was obvious that the rainbow at home had not made it’s presence felt down in Petone as the skies opened up and I got drenched with cold, stinging rain.  I passed a commercial laundry as I walked up the main street.  Peeking inside the door, I noticed a plethora of huge bags of washing tucked inside, all waiting to be dealt with.  That certainly put my own domestic rainy day laundry issues into perspective!

After spending a pleasant hour or so having coffee with my friend Pamela, who was tucked up nice and cosy in our agreed meeting place, I ventured out in the wintry conditions once again to check out the shop “Cats Galore”.  This shop specialises in anything and everything to do with cats, and I wanted to see what I could find inside.

This shop doesn’t actually sell cats, but has all manner of goodies featuring cats.  There were shelves and shelves of ornaments galore.  Crockery, books, greeting cards and wrapping paper, and all sorts of novelty items.  There were plenty of cat figurines, and any number of fluffy toys to take home.

Pamela had warned me, “You won’t come away with out buying something”, and she was right.  I purchased a pretty tea towel, with cute red cats on it, and it will go nicely in the caravan.  I just couldn’t help myself, and it was very reasonably priced, after all.  This is a great little shop for cat lovers.

The last time I visited the Cat Shop I had the excuse of getting a present for my granddaughter which still didn't make the choice easy!

Jenny,
You did very well to get out of there with just a towel. I think I would have had a much harder time being so good. I love your blog!
